the reservation department told us about the scaffolding, which will be finished in mid-juny. We made a reservation for july with a one night deposit, but finally we will not travel to Paris. The hotel refunded inmediatelly our deposit. There are only two examples of good service and advice. Please note that, its restaurant is one of our favorites in Paris.

Check before you stay here to see if the ongoing renovation is completed. The building is covered in scaffolding as of April 28, 2008.
The staff was accomodating but we decided to stay elsewhere.

We were attracted by the description of a charming hotel in an old building, furnished with antiques. The antiques turned out to be oversized and decrepit old junk. The door was hanging off the wardrobe. The ancient bed was too big for the room and left a small gap of 12 inches each side for us to move in. The bathroom was so tiny, you could touch all walls without stretching.
Worst of all, the room opened directly on to a spiral staircase - very dangerous - and getting suitcases in and out was a nightmare. No one helped. No public rooms and reception often unmanned.
If you make a reservation, make sure you know exactly what quality of room you are getting as the rooms vary enormously but the prices do not. We were ripped off.

My husband and I spent a most wonderful week at Le Relais St. Germain. From the welcome to the final farewell, the owners and their gracious staff provided professional and gracious service with smiles. A small hotel in bustling St. Germain area, two blocks from the Luxembourg Gardens and around the corner to metro Odeon, still managed to be a quiet haven for an afternoon nap or a luxurious bath. The breakfast service, which is included in the room charge, is both generous and delicious-O.J., sliced oranges, yogurt, ham, cheese, breads, eggs, café and croissants. Dinner at Le Comtoir completed our dream visit to Paris. Le Relais St. Germain is the home you wish for in Paris.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Relais St. Germain Oct. 22-26, and had a lovely time. I've read the previous reviews of this hotel, and kept them in mind when I stayed there. We had a 275E room, the least expensive for two people (there is a less expensive room for singles) and found it to be spacious by parisian standards. Our previous hotel was 210E per night, and had far less space. Our room had a very nice bathroom (no broken sink) with plenty of counter space, lovely towels, and the Annick Goutal toiletteries. Also, the bed was about what I would call a "queen size". There was no duvet, however, there was an extra blanket in the closet. The worst thing that I can say about the room is that the fabrics (bedspread, chairs, carpet) could stand some updating, not due to style, but due to wear and tear.
My one regret of our stay there is that we ate at the restaurant for dinner only once, on our last night. We should have had all our lunches and dinners there. The food at Le Comptoir is reason enough to make a trip to Paris. Also, the same food of the brasserie is available through room service. The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, is great.
As for location, there are pros and cons, mostly pros. It is right by the Odeon metro stop, Luxembourg garden, great shopping. The only con is that while a lot has been done to muffle noise, I could still hear motorcycles and sirens. Not too badly, but keep in mind that this hotel is in a busy area.
All in all, we cannot wait to revisit the Hotel Relais St. Germain. Great food, location, comfortable rooms, and very professional service will keep us returning.
