When my husband and I decided to go to Devil's Lake to go fishing we booked a non-smoking room at the Days Inn. Even though there was a "non-smoking" sticker on the door the stench was terrible, the room needed repairs to the walls the bathroom was quite small but it was the film across the top of the water in the toilet that made me flush it and I have never in my life seen an actual bubble form and raise along with the water. We left after one night with terrible headaches and when I checked out I asked the clerk if that was a non-smoking room which I was assured it was. We just about had to burn our clothes we brought with us because of the smell. Do yourself a favor and go a different hotel.

The sheets were soiled, very obvious they were not changed, found dead misquitoes in sheets. Complained direct to desk, asked for reimbursement, was told they could not do that. Found out later that person was the actual owner. Also, in haste to depart I left an expensive pair of sandals on left side of bed(I didn't want to step barefoot on the gross carpeting). Called one day later to have them hold them for our return from train trip, desk person said they would check into it and call me back same day. Never heard a word, continued to call many times, was told I would hear from the head housekeeper, never did hear a thing. Upon return from trip, I stopped in, spoke with person at front desk, he wanted me to talk to head housekeeper, she did not have sandals, went back to desk, words were exchanged, asked for compensation of sandals and room and to speak with manager, was told that he wasn't there. He would have him call me. Never heard a word, called again next day, manager was in and I spoke with him, he told me I had to talk with owner. Well, lo and behold, I had spoke to owner the day upon our return. He never acknowledged he was owner the day I was there. Total frustration by this time, decided it was not worth my time and efforts to pursue anymore.
