We stayed at this place one night during the latter part of June. We had reservations for 3 nights but after one night we moved across the street to another hotel. After reading the reviews, we should have known better, but as we were trying to be frugal, we thought we would give it a shot. Our first problem was the key to get into the door. It wouldn't open only until my husband shook the doorknob like crazy. Sometimes it would open, most of time it wouldn't. We had 4 keys made total. On first glance, the room appeared a little small, but the furnishings looked ok. We arrived late so we basically unloaded our stuff, and took the electric trolley downtown for dinner. Afterward, when we finally got back to the room (and getting one key to work) we entered our room to get ready for bed. The room smelled, to put it politely, of intestional gas-and no one had been in there at all. By this time it was 11:00 pm. We sprayed lysol everywhere (We always carry a can when we travel) and we went to bed. My daughter walked past my bed and I noticed her socks-they were black from just walking on the carpet . We had a room that faced the street, and the walls are thin. Although we didn't hear anyone talking, you could certainly hear traffic all night. The beds were only marginally adequate after you laid down in them, the bottom sheet came loose and my husband and I ended up practically on top of each other just to stay off the mattress during the night. Early the next morning, I called a hotel across the street to check on availibility (The Marriot) they quoted me a price only $60 more per nite and said we could check in right then. We packed up before 8:30 am and checked out (we waited to take a shower at the new place-we all needed one after the Days Inn) and bid the stinky room goodbye. Yes the room reeked off and on all night, it must have been a sewer leak somewhere-it certainly wasn't us. The people at the front desk were polite and apologised about the keys, they stated they had had problems before. On a good note, the diner attached to the hotel (not owned by the hotel) was great. The breakfasts were very good but the desserts were fantasic. IMO this motel has outlived its' usefullness, and should be razed and a new one put in it's place

We chose this hotel since it was convenient to where we needed to be for an event downtown. We (three ladies) just stayed one night. We found our room to be clean. They updated the bathroom sink to granite countertops, nice big screen TV; you can still tell the hotel is old, though. It will do for the price, if you are looking for something economical. Another reviewer said it was a bikers hotel but we did not find that to be true. There were a few motorcycles parked in the parking lot but it wasn't primarily for bikers or anything like that. We stayed on the third floor so were not bothered by noise. I would not recommend staying on the first floor since it is right next to a busy street downtown. We felt safe walking around that part of town during the day, but we probably wouldn't have walked around the streets by ourselves after dark, as with any big city's downtown area. I paid $69 + tax via Travelocity which came to $84. Since it was prepaid I didn't look at the receipt I got when I checked out very closely. When I looked at it later, it said the total was $62. So I think you'd be better to reserve directly through Days Inn. The City Cafe diner is connected so if you don't know the city it's a pretty good place to eat. All in all, it's clean and OK for the money. Staff was very nice.

We booked a room here so we could take our 5 year to see the "Polar Express" at the IMax. It was okay for just one night, but the room was small, not at all what we expected, They changed the price after we got there so they ended up charging us $10 more than what they told me over the phone. The elevator broke down with us in it, and the emergency phone did not work we had to yell to get someone to hear us, thankfully there was someone waiting for it on the first floor that heard us. I will not be staying here again.

My husband, daughter, her BF and myself booked 2 nights at this Days Inn so my daughter could see the show Rent for her BDay. I was ready to give an all around ok for this motel but.... on Sat. since it was cold and rainy and there was not much to do we all decided to catch up on our sleep. If we werent there in the afternoon we would have never seen the small roach crawling around by the sink area. It was just one but it was still a roach. The room itself was pretty clean looking. The bath seemed to be newly remodeled. I saw no hairballs or stains like I had read in previous reviews. Front desk was friendly and helpful. I just wondered about one of the sheets on the bed though. It was inside out. (the fitted sheet) Just made me wonder if it was truely a mistake or if they didnt wash it and flipped it! We were basically poolside. It was very quiet. No shady people and nothing woke us up. The pool was closed and covered so I cant really review on that. Beware: to work the shower you have to pull out the little round thing on the bottom of the spicket where the water comes out. We had to ask about that and they even showed us at the front desk.
Ok, to sum it up if it wasnt for the little roach it would have been a no frills place to stay that wasnt bad at all. I got a last minute rate at the motel site for 56.00 with no refunds or changes allowed.
Would i stay again? Only if like this time I couldnt afford one of the more expensive hotels. It really wasnt bad.
