I travel quite a bit and this has to be the worst experience I have had to date at a hotel. My spouse and I had gone to Minot for the weekend. We checked into the Days Inn around 10:00 pm on the Sunday night. The staff was very rude and kept making us wait so they could answer the telephone even though there were enough staff to man the phones.
The only room we could get was the suite and the hotel desk clerk said she would give it to us for a low rate, which for that hotel was definitely not a low rate. We gave the room a once over and the bathroom seemed dirty. It was late and we were going out so we let it go and went on our way.
At 12:30 we had gone back to the room. When we got in our sheets I was poked by a toe nail. This indicated that the bedding was not changed from the night before. In disgust we packed up and rushed downstairs to complain. We wanted to be checked out and we were going to another hotel. The night auditor then proceeded to apologize and explain that they had been having problems with their cleaning staff and had received a lot of complaints from customers. Before we left, my husband asked if she had refunded the credit card.... to my surprise she said no. Are you kidding, who checks out over a filthy room and doesn't get refunded.
After calling the manager she explained we were there too long to get a refund and she would clean the room for us. We were fuming, we had been in minot for 3 hours and had only spent 20 minutes in our room. While the night auditor cleaned the room she complained once again about the building and the cleaning staff. We endured this for the next 30 minutes, I helped to clean the room to get her out more quickly.
By 2:30 we were in bed and had the worst, sleepless night anyone could have. At 7:30 we were up and ready to get out of there. We complained to the day staff and explained we should get a discount for all the trouble. Once again, only the manager could do this. After waiting for an hour for the staff to get a hold of the manager they said to call back later for an answer. I called for the next two days to complain directly to the manager but apparently she disappeared and could not be found. So.... we let it go.
Then, once our credit card statement arrived, we realised we had been charged twice at an overpriced rate for the same room on the same night. We have been in a dispute now with the hotel since. We are not getting anywhere with them and had to file a dispute with the credit card company to get a resolution.
PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
We ended up the next night at the Sleepy Inn and it was wonderful. The staff was great, it was clean and the rooms were new with granite countertops!!! The craziest part was that it was the same price that as the Days Inn

We booked our room through the Days Inn website. The requested room (Executive King with fridge & microwave) was ready and equipped as booked and our airline miles program entered on the website was credited automatically.
We expected budget to mid-range accomodations and we were not disappointed. The room and common areas were very clean, with the only suggestion being that the bathroom would be in need of updating soon. Amenities were provided as advertised. The continental breakfast was good but some items were out if we went down for breakfast later in the morning. Phone messages were relayed promptly and personally by the desk clerk whenever we entered the lobby upon returning; a nice, personal touch. The location is convenient; the main north-south thoroughfare and junction to major highways are one block away. The immediate area has several restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores and Minot's main shopping mall is less than a two minute drive away.
As long as you aren't expecting premium, luxury accomodations, the Days Inn Minot is an excellent option.

The hotel is perfectly fine. Rooms are clean. We phoned ahead and the hotel told us the price would be $57. I checked on --- and there were rooms for $44, which I booked. Upon arrival, the hotel was rather empty, yet we were placed in the smallest rooms in the hotel (based on the hotel map). Its frustrating that you get stuck in a small room when the hotel is EMPTY.
