Easy, pleasant access to Metro; safe area; grocery store, CVS at top of Metro; Potbelly's sandwich shop excellent. We found our room clean and newly redecorated. The king bed was average; I agree about the strange-sized bed pillows. The room coffee was great; stay away from the lobby coffee; vending machines are spotty, so stock up at the nearby stores. The bathroom is small; towels are thin and worn. You get the usual bar soap, shampoo, lotion and conditioner. Take your bathroom cups with you, and probably some Solo cups for cold beverages. The walls are, indeed, thin, so our window unit came in handy to drown out our "rooster" neighbor.

Nice Room - Great Location

I'd be giving this a rating of 3.5 if I could - three seems a bit low. Since I booked 5 days at this hotel for my family, I was terrified by all the bad reviews I read about this hotel. Maybe that helped lower my expectations... I duno. Anyhow, the room itself was comfy and very clean. The sheets were real nice and felt like good quality 300 thread count sheets. As some reviewers noted, the pillows were kind of lumpy, but they were clean and the bed itself was comfy. Although the bathroom was clean, the water pressure from the shower was a bit low. The maid also kept replacing all towels with clean ones even if I kept my towels hung on the shower hook. Occasionally, our neighbors did get a bit loud but the noise tapered off by 10:30 so we weren't kept up all night.
But enough about the room... there's so much to see and do in DC, we literally left the room early in the morning and didn't return until late into the evening. The hotel is in a pretty safe location. Although the immediate area has a few decent restaurants, I recommend taking the Red Line (which is about 200 meters from the hotel) to either Cleveland Park (1 stop) or Woodley Park/Zoo (2 stops) for much better eats. Both those stops are in the direction of Downtown DC which is literally 15 minutes away by metro. I can't say enough about this place's location.
Pros: Price, Location
Cons: Walls are thin so noisy neighbors must be dealt with

As other people have said this hotel is quite reasonable for D.C. The location is quite nice-- A short 2 block walk to the metro in a residential area. There's a market next to the metro stop and a couple of nice restaurants across the street. The room was pretty much what you would expect for this class of hotel...nothing fancy but serviceable. We stayed in three different hotels on this trip and this hotel had the most comfortable beds/bedding. The computers in the lobby were nice to have (free, unlike the Hyatt we stayed in later in the week.). They were often occupied however. The main downside to the hotel was the staff at the desk. For one thing, there were too few of them, especially at busy times such as late afternoon/evening when people are checking in. Moreover, they were just not very good. Simple requests like "Can I have another blanket?" were answered with the "I'll see what I can do" that lets you know that nothing will be done. And nothing was done.

Pros:
Low price compared to many other DC hotels
Convenient location in non-congested area of city
Metro stop just a short walk
Parking garage
Restaurants and convenience stores nearby
Relatively clean
Night security guard
Cons:
Staff not very helpful
Some rooms in disrepair: some electrical outlets don't work; our toilet malfunctioned.
Both printers in lobby didn't work
Bottom line: I'd stay there again if I had to but will search for better hotel next time.
