Gift certificates (GC) were purchase online at the Days Inn web site on 12/26/2007 for my parents who drive from Boston, MA to Florida each year. They usually stay at a Days Inn on there way down to Florida. I decided to purchase a gift certificate for them as a gift. Boy was that a huge mistake. I purchased a GC for $100.00, and when my parents arrived at the Days Inn in Walterboro, SC the clerk would not accept it because it over $25.00, and she has never seen it for $100.00.
I explained to her the gift certificate was purchased from the Days Inn’s web site and the certificates are available in the following denominations of $10.00, $25.00, $50.00 and $100.00. Since a visit at a hotel is usually over $50.00 I decided to purchase the gift certificate for $100.00. I asked Linda if I presented 4 gift certificates for $25.00 she would accept them, and the answer was yes. Please note I am having this conversation with Linda over the phone. I’m in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, January 26, 2008 and my parents are at Days Inn, Walterboro, South Carolina. I purchased 2 $100.00 gift certificates for them as a gift since they travel to Florida each year, and enjoy lodging at the Days Inn. They called me since they were upset and could not understand why this was happening to them. They asked if I could speak to Linda Leach, and correct the situation to her. My parents were very tried from driving all day long and were looking forward to staying at the Days Inn for the night. I could not understand the reasoning for not accepting the gift certificate. I was on the phone with her for several minutes explaining the gift certificates. She would only accept them if they were twenty-five dollar gift certificates. I was completely amazed by her answer, and when I asked to speak to a manager she was again unhelpful to me and said he would be back in the morning at 8am. I asked her if I gave her my information would he call me back, she said no. She told my parents they could drive 75 miles to another Days Inn and they would accept the GC. My parents left Boston at 4am on Saturday, 01/26, and arrived at SC at 6:30pm all they wanted to do was rest for the night. Again, I was shocked by her reply. Linda told me the GC were old. I told her they were purchased on 12/26/2007 and are good for a year, so on 12/25/2008 the GC would be old. I informed her that it was Saturday, 01/26/2008 which is only a month since the GC were purchased. Needless to say my parents did stay at the Days Inn since they were very tried.
Since I was in Boston, I could not believe this was happening and have to resolute it. I contacted Customer Service and the person who answered the phone was very unhelpful and unfamiliar with the services on the web. The Customer Service Representative was stating they do not sell GC online. I gave him the web site regarding GC, he was shocked. He told me each establishment has their own rules. I told him the clerk would accept the gift certificates, but she never seen anything larger than a twenty-five dollars gift. She would accept them if I had 4 for twenty-five dollars. This didn’t make sense to me and I could not process the information. I told him that website does not state this and why would Days Inn make gift certificates for that amount if a location has issues with it. I quoted from Days Inn website the terms and conditions regarding using a gift certificate. I told him I did my research before purchasing the gift certificates since it would be a gift to my parents and to eliminate any problems or issue my parents would have. What a mistake it was to buy them in the first place, boy, was I was wrong.

We needed a place to stay for a few days while visiting relatives over the holidays. We did the pre-pay option on the internet, and payed about $50.00 a night. This is an older hotel, but there are some plusses (besides the cheap price!) The bed was comfortable and clean, there is a computer in the lobby for guest use, the breakfast was good, and the shower was nice and hot. The exercise room needs some help - but at least they have one. At the time we were there, the front desk told us that the bicycle was broken. So, there was only a treadmill and a few weights. That's not quite what is advertised on their web site. We expected something more. The only other thing I want to mention is that the carpet in our room needed replaced. It was in pretty bad shape. All in all though, we don't want to pay twice as much for one of the newer hotels, and we got a good nights sleep at the Days Inn. We'll probably stay there again.

My husband and I were headed towards NC and wanted to stop and see the Charleston's historic district. However, as we were researching for our trip we found that hotels were very pricey in the Charleston area. We decided to check out Walterboro, since it was only an hour from Charleston and right off of I-95. This Days Inn was very affordable, clean, and had wireless internet. It is an older hotel, but it provided everything we needed: a comfortable bed, clean accomodations, easy access, and even a continental breakfast. We had dinner at the Cracker Barrel across the street that we were able to walk to. We recommend it if all you need is a place to spend the night without breaking your budget.

I stayed @ the Days Inn Walterboro, and was surprised. It had perfectly clean, fairly new rooms, a pool, exercise room, and sauna. They had a substantial free continental breckfast buffet with fruit, cereal, toast, sweet rools, donuts, muffins, bagels, juice, and fresh coffee. I was amazed at the price ( better than the Holiday inn express, or Hampton Inn). I will stay here if I travel this way again. Stay here.
