Great short stay style hotel. very business-y, in finance district. great staff. Really nice rooms, but suites are tiny so god only knows what size standard rooms are. Breakfasts were great. Nice pool. Spa (Banyan Tree) pretty good.
We got into Mumbai on the late BA flight so the excellent and effiecient service and check in was very much appreciated.

Having paid a hefty sum to stay here (Hilton was full) I was expecting a lot more. Friends were staying in the Hilton so it was easy to compare room and Hilton rooms are far better.
The ambience and lobby of the Oberoi are what you expect; oustanding. However, rooms are basic and disappointing and certainly not deserving of their elevated price.

This was my second business trip to Mumbai in the last 3 years. I stayed at another hotel on my last trip and was looking forward to another great stay in Mumbai. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the hotels appearance. The room was clean, but worn. Upon arrival I had no hot water. They did move me to another room on my second day. The plug in my second room also did not work, so I had to charge my laptop in the bathroom. The front desk was very helpful and were truly sorry for all my problems. I have traveled throughout third world countries so I know that there will be problems. But of the 5 different hotels I stayed while in India, the Oberoi would be the fifth on the list. Clean and comfortable, but nothing special.

A superb hotel. It's built around a massive 8 storey atrium (hard to imagine that happening now, with Mumbai land prices having rocketed). Rooms are large and comfortable. Staff are helpful and responsive, without exception. Great gym, with a fantastic personal trainer. Pool is better than the Hilton Towers for doing lengths, but the Hilton's is deeper so better for diving, and has a sunnier poolside. Anyway, you stay at the Oberoi and you can use both, flitting from one to the other.
The rooms on the north side suffer from noise coming from the aircon fans at ground level - I was immediately moved when I pointed out that I'd not slept well on my first night. That's the only flaw I experienced in this very calm, civilised hotel.
