This hotel is conveniently located on a highway leading into the college town of Elkins, WV. It's near gas stations, a little mall, convenience stores, an auto parts store, eateries, and other small town services, making it a good for an overnight or longer stay. The room was small but well kept, and everything was better than I expected, basing this upon Days Inn locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Stayed 3 days...Reasons why I will never stay there again:
1.Very slow unsecure wireless internet;
2. Smell...overload of air freshner;
3. Dirty and stainned carpets throughout
4. Coffee shop had plastic unwashed ashtrays...weeks of film, tar and ash inside them sitting on counter. No food in cases...however I did spot a couple cookies in the front case. Very unhealthy looking establishment. Lone Waitress wore jean shortshorts.
5.Unprofessional, unfriendly and unhelpful desk staff on 3-11shift.
6.High pitched electrical whine on and off at around 630 or 700 AM.
7. No pool, no complimentary breakfast and ice available only at front desk.
8. Alarm clock didn't alram...wake up calls 15-20 later than requested.
9. Small TV and remote control sometimes worked, sometimes didn't.
10. Poorly decorated...still a hospital room.
11. Smoke stains on ceiling in bathroom (only a shower available with water going from hot to cold several times during a 2 minute shower).
12 AC doesn't function well...but there was a fan...windows do not open.
13. Gift shop closed. Grand Piano is for display only! Do not touch!

A no-frills, run-of-the mill hotel.

This hotel may be ok for some people who are going to be in the room for a short period of time and don't expect much in the way of frills. First of all, don't expect the key card to work. We had two rooms and had persistent trouble with both key cards. Also was surprised to find the sink in the room, next to the bed, instead of in the bathroom.
The smaller-screened TV did not work well with the remote. The TV remote was touchy; sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Had to be pretty close to the TV and then it didn't work consistently.
I found the cleaning personnel, and the gentleman at the front desk to be very friendly, cooperative and willing to assist. However, I cannot say the same for the female desk person working the evening shift. Be careful ... she may bite! The hotel appeared to be clean, just not appealing when compared to other comparable places I've stayed.
As a member of AARP, I expected a different rate than the going rate. However, I had to make two calls to reserve the room. During the first call, I did not ask for the AARP rate, and was quoted a rate. When I called back to confirm the reservation, I asked for the special AARP rate, and was given the same non-AARP rate.
Not the worst, but certainly not the best. However, I expect changes to be made. I don't want anyone to lose their job, just change their mode of operation.

Light sleepers bring ear plugs !!
Guest name: Anonymous
Stayed here whilst over the MLK weekend, doing some boarding in Snowshoe.
Lots of other people with the same idea, also some going to Canaan. This means that there are quite a lot of younger people in the hotel, and you do get some people running up and down the corridor loate at night. Bring earplugs if you're going to struggle with that.
Otherwise, clean tidy hotel and easy to find. No complimentary breakfast, although muffins and coffee in the lobby. There is a restaurant at the hotel, which is ok - lasagne and red wine was all I needed !! About $20 including a soup starter, and more than I could eat. Be aware that there's not much in Elkins (it's about 3 hrs drive to the nearest cell phone signal) so you may end up eating here anyways !!
Shower as well, rather than a bath. Think there are jacuzzi suites though if you need to float away.... budget was more important to me.
Would consider the Econo-Lodge in Elkins next time, if only for the comp breakfast. It also has a pool......
great place for the price

I booked my husband into the Days Inn on the reviews left here. He loved it. Said it was clean and the staff was friendly. I know the price was more than reasonable. Great place to stay to ski Canaan or Whitegrass.
