Loved it

I loved it. I took a suite, and had a small balcony with door. Was able to sleep with door opened, to get fresh air. The suite was facing a quiet street, so never had traffic noise. The room also faced the river, so I had a lovely view morning and evening. The microwave came in handy. There is also a gym and pool. Used the gym most evenings.
Fantastic Service! Never seen before!

Well, booked my husband into this hotel on a return trip form northern ontario and spur of the moment deicded to go meet him and spend the weekend in Ottawa with our 2 young kids.
Hotel was booked solid as it was winterlude. They managed to get us a conference - pull out bed room that we accepted. The one they wanted to give us was not ready and as my husband was travelling with our 4 year old, they gave him a room in the meantime. While they went for dinner, hotel staff managed to find 2 fold away beds for the kids, and moved all their stuff from the temporary room to the new suite.
There is a huge waterslide with very attentive staff supervision at all times, They take the time once in a while to wipe down the stairs so they are not too slippy. Very well done. There is an activity room with drawing paper and crayons and other activities all brightly decorated. There is a good sized pool, and I saw staff checking the water PH balance at least 2 times in one day!
Towels available in the pool area. There is also a gym for 16 and up only, I did not use it but there was always someone in there. Kept quite clean.
The staff everywhere was SO SO SO friendly, they really do a great job at the hotel. Some of the carpets are looking a little worn and usually this bothers me, but the stellar service and firendliness we got overrode all that. I would definatly stay here again! It was great!
Breakfast buffet in hotel was great as well and our kids both under 6 ate for free. More than worth it! They even special ordered pancakes for our oldest son as he did not want french toast (all at no extra cost) staff in restaurant was as friendly and great as the rest of the hotel staff.
Hats off for a job really well done!
Nice hotel just on the fringe of downtown

The hotel was very nice although the rooms were a little on the small size and the chamber maids were slow. I did not experience any of the criticisms listed by others but had a few minor ones of my own.
The elevators were quite slow and if you didn't hit the close door button, the door would stay open for as much as 30 seconds. When your room is on the 9th floor, that can become tiresome.
The lobby and restaurants (there are 3) were good. Bartenders were friendly and good for a few laughs. I didn't find the food overly pricey as some have and there were alternatives within 2 blocks (Tim Horton's and Starbucks). The morning lineups for these places were insane (another topic for another day).
The business centre was adequate but I was unable to use the printer. The front desk gladly took care of my printing needs. Rooms were quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable. This hotel is on the western side of downtown but still quite close to shopping on Sparks street (about 3 blocks), Rideau Centre (about 20 minute walk) and the parliament buildings (10 minutes).

We booked this hotel using our AeroPlan airmiles for our first year wedding anniversary.
Checked in: 16 Nov 2007
Checked out: 17 Nov 2007
Room: 925
The bad aspects of this hotel and our stay:
1. Terrible front desk service. There were no greetings including the request I made 4 times before arriving to wish my wife a Happy Anniversary because women like these little things.
2. I called 4 times to order flowers for the room at an additional charge and was always turned down by being asked to call back later but I never received help.
3. The hotel knew I was coming there for my anniversary but cared to provide only 1 bathrobe and no bathroom slippers.
4. There were no greetings at either the check-inn or check-out and nobody offerred to store bags, call a cab, provide assistance with travel to the local area, infomation on the hotel ammeneties with where the swimming pool & gym are, etc
5. We called the Front Desk in the evening to request for room slippers but rather than helping the person on the phone laughed and turned us down. To add to it when he answered the call he only said 'YES' & nothing more. He expected us to fill in the blanks.
6. Imagine its ur anniversary you inform the front desk during check-in about it and he still doesnt wish you and to top it all you get a room with a view of a run down building and the front of the radisson hotel.
7. The enterance of the hotel is inviting but the staff are unfriendly and just look unhappy to work and to add to it the carpets on the 9th floor are grey and dippressing.
8. Local & 1-800 Phone calls are Not free.
9. Internet is Not Free.
All in all my wife and I would warn you against booking this hotel for any special occassions but if you are there for 1 night and just want to sleep then this hotel is alright.
The only aspects of our experience with the hotel that were satisfactory are:
1. The beds & pillows are the best we have ever come across for a hotel
2. The reservation staff was friendly & helpful.
You have been warned.
