Location, location, location! Metro practically across the street. Small neighborhood grocery stores and bakeries all within a block or two. Walking distance: Tourism office for the must have Museum Pass, Louvre, Paris Opera and department stores, rue Saint Honore, Musee d'Orsay just over the bridge. Even a nice walk down to Notre Dame. Safe neighborhood at night with many cafes and restaurants open late. The Front Desk was always friendly and extremely helpful. Bathrooms were newish and spotless. The rest of the room needed updating, but all in all best bang for the buck!

My daughter and I spent last week at the Louvre St. Romain (8 nites in all). We were completely satisfied and, actually, pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of our double room and bath. While the hotel does not ooze with character, it is very comfortable and clean and perfectly located esp for women because it is only 1/2 block from the Tuileries metro station and there are a number of restaurants nearby on St. Honore. We felt comfortable coming and going after dark. The Louvre is also a short walk away and open some evenings. It is possible there is traffic noise from rue de Rivoli in the summer with windows open but we heard nothing and slept very soundly. Temperature in the room also always very comfortable. Fabulous buffet breakfast served 7 - 10 am. Very accomodating and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. The hotel met my high standards and I would definitely be pleased to stay here again.

We had previously stayed at the Duminy Vendome a couple of blocks away but it was booked and our friend/travel agent felt the location of the Louvre St. Romaine would make up for other deficiencies. Weather in late September was unusually warm and we had to sleep with the windows open since there was no A/C. With windows open the room was comfortable but the noise was terrible from the street traffic. Fortunately there was Ambien! Staff were very helpful in confirming restaurant reservations. Breakfast was OK since it was included in our rate and included cereals, yogurt, a few breads and pastries, some cold cuts and cheese slices, coffee and juice. I would likely not stay here during the summer. With A/C the hotel would have rated much higher.
