We recently stayed at this hotel on our way from Wisconsin to South Carolina. I made the reservations online so we were heading down there sight unseen. The hotel was easy to find...not far off the interstate. The front desk clerk(I think his name was John) was great. Our room was clean and comfortable...the only glitch was that there were no sheets for the sofa bed, but John immediately got us some. The pool was clean and warm. There was a Ruby Tuesdays right across the parking lot that offered 15% off of our dinner since we were staying at that hotel. The breakfast the next morning wasn't as good as some that I've had. It had the usual pastries, make your own waffles, yogurt, cereal, etc. They also had ham...which was sort of like hot lunch meat, sausages and hard boiled eggs. I thought the eggs looked strange, but I took one anyways. They were peeled and I could have bounced it off the wall. It was hard and rubbery. I didn't eat it. The breakfast also wasn't set up very well and people seemed lost. Nobody knew where to start. My advice would be to grab a quick pastry and catch breakfast down the road.

Not So Non-smoking...or What's That Floating in the Pool?

After driving for several hours and having a horrible trip all around, my husband decided to pull into this hotel at about 11pm. He asked for a non-smoking room and that's what we were given...except it smelled like an ashtray. He called the front desk and asked if it was directly above, below, or beside a smoking room and we were told it was not. The room had a non-smoking sign on it. We were offered a different room, but for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, a pull-out couch and a king size bed just would not have made for a comfortable night so we declined and sucked it up.
Being the first person to enter the bathroom, I checked it out only to find drops of urine on the inside of the toilet bowl. That made me believe the rest of the room had probably not been cleaned - or at least not thoroughly. We did not contact front desk again because we already knew our other choice wouldn't house us comfortably. It was too late and we were too tired to try another hotel or I'm sure we would have.
The beds were allegedly queen size, but I'm quite sure they were only full size. We sleep on a queen at home at this was considerably smaller. I woke up nearly every hour.
Breakfast the next morning was okay. Not great, not horrible, just okay. We arrived about 30 minutes before it closed down so that was to be expected. It featured a lot of carbs. 3 cereals, bagels, waffles, biscuits & gravy, bread, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee & tea.
The pool area was closed, but that's probably a good thing. From the breakfast area looking in, it looked like there was some sort of gelatinous substance floating in it...maybe some kind of Nickelodeon slime...it was bizarre looking.
The elevator was small and slow.
The positive about the room was that it featured a microwave and mini fridge.
We stayed at this very hotel many times in 1993 and 1994 and always had good luck, that's why he decided to stop here again. I guess 15 years really takes a toll on a place.

Stayed one night, check in gave me a room with 2 double beds. one night for $76.00 total with tax was around $84..
A little high for a outdated older hotel like this..
The shower in my bathroom did not have a shower curtain, in it and it was late and had already emptied out my bags on the bed, so instead of going and dealing with the front desk people I threw down half the towels, on the floor and took a shower anyway.. There is Ruby Tuesday about 400 feet (walking dist) outside fron entrance..

Stopped on our way to Gatlinburg and used our Choice Reward points to book the room. The room was very clean and spacious .. all suite non-smoking hotel with a micro/fridge in the room. Check in no problems and everyone was very friendly.
Could have used some more breakfast items but that has been my main complaint all along with the Choice Hotel group.

My family and I have stayed at Comfort Suites whenever we go on vacation. In December we traveled to Florida and on the way home we decided to stay at Comfort Suites. We have always been very happy with these hotels and have never been disappointed. But on this visit we were surprised by the lack of upkeep at this hotel. We stayed on December 23rd, 2006 in room #212. The personnel was more than nice and helpful, but the room we stayed in needed alot of work. The door to the room was crooked so you could see over the door and under it. Like the door frame was bent. It really didn't make me feel very safe. The carpet looked dirty, and there was a gap of about 1-2 inches in the floor between the room and bathroom(no door sill). This is where I stubbed my toe. Also the sink granite was pulling away from the base. The room floor slanted down toward the middle of the building. I'm sure there isn't anything that could be done about that though. I took our youngest daughter down to go swimming and the pool was so cloudy you couldn't see the bottom. Also I observed the pool light that is usually in the side of the pool under water. It was pulled out and sitting on top of the side of the pool. The wire apparently still attached under water. I decided it was safer not to let her swim. Our phone didn't work properly, but the help gladly came up and noticed it was plugged into the wrong outlet. You could hear kids running around the halls, but that is to be expected. The breakfast was good and I think the employees were more than helpful.
