Stayed in the AC Alicante for a week. We had a lovely room - very modern fittings and a good sized bathroom. We had a side view of the sea, which meant we looked out over a site that has been cleared for development and also over the working port - but we could see the sea! The hotel pool is a good size, though for us a little on the cool side in May, as we didn't see as much sun as we'd hoped for and the pool isn't heated. The jacuzzi and steam room facilities are good - you just have to ask staff to switch the steam room on 15 minutes before you want to use it. We usually book in for room-only accommodation, but booked B&B on this holiday - would advise anyone to look for a deal with breakfast, as it was an excellent deal. Lots of choice. The hotel is a little on the edge of the city but its a slow 20 min stroll to the beach, and under 10 minutes to get to the bus station one way and the train station another. 15 minutes or so walk gets you back from the old town. It definitely wasn't the only part of town where one could find such "services", but the outside the hotel did appear to be popular as a red-light district (both male and female services on offer on occasions). There was no trouble from this at all. The city itself is certainly worth visiting. Little evidence of any interest in the tourist trade, as the city is busy enough without - so it means you get to see "Spain" as it should be! Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
