This is a beautiful new hotel. The rooms were a nice size, very clean and had nice amenities. The lobby has a little snack shop where you can buy various drinks and snacks. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and very fresh. The staff are all very accomodating. They have an on site travel agent who can book excursions for a great price. There is also a bank in the lobby which is handy for currency exchange. Which you may need to use to finance the ridiculous cost of the hotel's Internet access. Unfortunatley, the hotel sells gym memberships to locals. So the gym can get a little loud. It can be especially intimidating for a woman traveling alone, as I was. There is a one of the larger Georgian grocery stores near by. While it is not large by Western standrads, it is large for Georgia. It has groceries and a large take out counter as well as many toiletry and household items.

My organisation held a meeting at this hotel, and although we were given a 'special' rate still thought it was hugely overpriced, at EUR 155! (that's in a country with average monthly salary lower than that sum!). At 4-stars this hotel is far from world-class, although they are desperately trying to look like one! Amenities are nice, and rooms too, but service is at times terrible. Sheraton is a direct competitor, with similar price levels, but I can tell you it is even worse!!
If you are in Tbilisi for a short stay and your company is paying for you, then go for it. Otherwise, if you are just a tourist, and looking for a friendly environment and not too expensive, then I would recommend Hotel "Old Tbilisi", at 85 EUR (go for a room with a view to the river!). All of my delegates who opted out for that hotel (as prices at Courtyard were out of budget) loved it!

I stayed in the Tbilisi Courtyard Marriott for 12 days in April-May 2005. The location can't be beat - it is on "Freedom Square" off of the main street, Rustaveli, in town. Within walking distance of the old town, national art museum, restaurants and dry bridge art market. Rooms were comfortable with refrigerator - ask for a view of the square. Restaurant is mediocre, bar is even more mediocre, but you can walk down the street to the main Marriott Hotel (that's right there are two in town, one upscale, one for business travelers) if you are searching for finer dining. There are no stores in the hotel, no foreign press available to buy. There is a small "grab and go" area at the front desk where you can buy toilettries and snacks. There is an extensive breakfast buffet which is included in the room cost.
