We have just returned from a week at Capo d'Orso. Arriving at 8am after a 12 hour flight delay and a sleepless night we were exhausted but the sight of the hotel was enough to make us feel better. The landscaping is beautiful with the rooms hidden among flower-filled gardens and glimpses of the sea wherever you look. For the first day we got lost several times as all of the paths curve in different directions.
The hotel is stylishly designed with lots of cream linen and rattan furniture. The spa, in particular, is absolutely beautiful with 10 treatment rooms and three thassalotherapy pools and although it does cost extra, it didn't seem overly expensive.
The food is awesome. We were on a half board deal and i've never had such good food. There are two main restaurants - one under the trees by the pool and main reception areas and the other by the sea. We ate al fresco most nights by the sea as the menu was more varied and there were a lot of mosquitos in the other gardens.
As previously mentioned, the service was excellent with the waiters and maitre d' remembering our preferences from night to night.
The only (slight) disappointment of the week was our room. The 'classic' rooms are very small albeit stylishly decorated and our sea view was mostly obscured by vegetation. That said, the room contained everything we wanted, there was adequate wardrobe space with towelling robes and slippers and the bathroom was well equipped.
One word of warning though - when booking i suggest that you request a room on the upper floor. The floors are paper thin to the extent that it sounded exactly as though someone was padding through our room in bare feet which is slightly disconcerting when you're woken in the middle of the night. The people above us came from Kazakistan and like to wander around their room and chat until 4am and weren't amenable to requests from the management to keep the noise down!

We booked 11 days with our little 2 and a half year old girl. Booked a junior suite. We had a lovely time. The hotel service is excellent. They remembered things from the night before at dinner (our daughters preference for butter over olive oil etc) and would always be one step ahead.
Dinner menu was fabulous. We were on half board and thought we would be bored of the menu, but it was changed regularly and they also had a daily set menu. The fish dishes were to die for. Tiramisu and Pistachio Creme Brulee were also highlights.
Breakfast was also excellent- Look out for the omelettes made by chef in front of you, with your choice of fillings. Excellent.
The location is secluded, so ideal for a quiet time away.
Beautiful little beach with free sunbeds for guests. Pool was too cold for a swim when we were there.
If the weather is bad, (We had about 5 cloudy/rainy days during our stay in May) there is not much to do at the hotel, so a rental car is adviseable- but the island is so gorgeous that you would be mad to stay in the one place all day anyway.
Thalasso spa was in the same grounds but it is run separately and you need to pay for use of the spa pool. No kids allowed here either so its a peaceful place.
Ideal for couples or families with small kids. Older kids may get a bit bored.Cala De Lepre seemed to be better for older kids. Owned by the same group and only a couple of kms from Capo D'Orso Hotel.

We spent a week at the Capo d’Orso in the summer of 2007, and had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend it to friends on account of its beauty and comfort. It may not be the ideal resort for vacations with kids, but parents (like us) can definitely enjoy themselves there with small children.
HOTEL GROUNDS. The hotel and its grounds are attractive, and maintained well. The resort is not very large, and you can orient yourself without much difficulty. There are many charming and romantic spots, including the boat pier attached to the resort. A note of caution -- the resort is full of hills, stairs and unpaved pathways. The elderly or the handicapped may wish to take this into account before selecting it as a resort.
ROOMS. Our two room suite was very comfortable, with a large bed, a separate sofa, a spacious terrace overlooking the ocean, and ample closet and drawer space for one’s belongings. (With a small safe in the closet.) The housekeepers did an excellent job straightening up the room, and accommodating the needs of us two, and our baby. Decent mini-bar, refreshed as needed. (Shower only in our room; no bathtub.)
We booked a suite in order to give our baby a separate room for his crib. Truth be told, that may not be needed for all couples, as some single rooms may have a curtain to divide the room into two parts. You may want to discuss that with your travel agent if you’re interested in the subject.
SWIMMING POOLS. The main swimming pool is a bit small, and since it’s near a few trees, can get a bit dirty after its cleanings. The pool near the spa is prettier, and has warmer water (3 different temperatures, depending on the section, actually), but alas, you must pay the spa a separate fee to swim there, and small children aren’t allowed there. (It looks possible to sneak your child there when the spa is closed, if you’re so inclined.)
BEACH. Pretty beach, with yachts and islands and mountains in the distance. Really really really clear Sardinian water. The sandy beach area itself is a bit small; but there are also five or six separate wooden platforms by the water where you can sun yourself and even enter the water. (But watch out for those sea urchins that gather near those platforms!)
RESTAURANTS. There are two main lunch and dinner restaurants, one formal, and one being more of a pizza and sandwich place. Both are delicious. Try the fish, and remember to sample the myrtle liqueur before u leave. (We can’t find it in the U.S.) Breakfast is delicious, and as healthy (or as unhealthy) as you like it to be. We thought the level of service at the restaurants was quite good.
HOTEL STAFF. The staff made terrific efforts to keep us happy, even going out of their way to obtain a few baby items before we arrived. A very likeable team.
SIDE TRIPS. A variety of standard tours for the region can be booked at the hotel. We were very happy not taking any, and just staying at the resort. The town of Palau is a short taxi ride away, and you can find virtually everything you might have forgotten at home there. (The hotel doesn’t really have a gift shop or sundry shop.)
SCUBA. A local dive shop can pick you up at the pier most days of the week. The dives are as likely to be as good as you can find in Europe, although certainly not as interesting as the Caribbean or Asia. The boat rides to the dive sites have scenery that is OUT OF THIS WORLD TERRIFIC. (The dive sites are 15-30 minutes by boat from the hotel.)
GYM. Not much of a gym, just a few machines and a treadmill in a well-shaded spot by the ocean. We had such a good time at the resort, we never really worked out anyway.
SPA. A good range of massages and treatments are available at the resort’s beautiful spa.
CHILDREN. No obvious amenities for children, but we had a great time with our seven month old, and we were far from the only ones to bring a baby or a child.
DRINKING WATER. Is it for drinking, or not? Is it save for baby’s formula, or not? We weren’t quite sure, and ordered the hotel’s rather expensive bottled water.
SUMMARY. The hotel and its surroundings are beautiful, and if you want an attractive place for rest and relaxation, with a variety of extras, you can have a fabulous tim

We spent the third time in this beautiful hotel based near Palau and we will come back. It is one of the most peaceful places we ever been and it is always a bit of a "coming home" feeling for us.
The crew ist fantastic, polite and they see every wish you have.
The restaurants (!) are great and they offer the best quality of fresh fisch, meat, pasta, pizza and really everything you like to eat. Even for vegetarians it has a great choice of food and the chief cook is always open for special wishes. The breakfast is located on a beautiful terrace and you find everything you need for a good start in the day.
All in all we love this hotel and we will visit it again, for sure!!!
