i've stayed here several times before and its true to say its a good hotel, concerning rooms and location but a recent experience suggests its not ran along service levels one might expect of a crowne plaza. this episode relates only to the health centre. the health centre is a fairly well set up gym and pool. the pool is good. along wih this is the massage parlour. sadly when hoping to use this place to mantain fitness or unwind then if you're a non-smoker you might be unsettled by patrons smoking in the locker room and showers. the cigarette butts on the shower floor are certainly not aesthetically pleasing. more saddening was the reponse of hotel managers when the issue was raised. 'well this is china' was the first response. another manager raised the issue with the health centre before he explained that the smoking was most often the massage centre manager and his patrons or friends. as he was a seperate entity and not crowne plaza staff nothing really could be done. effectively the solution was to take my money back and find somewhere else. i didn't find this satisfactory but was all i got. on another issue - wifi - does it have to be so expensive. if you use a lap-top in the lobby cafe here, most staff in and around are unable to confirm wifi access is possible and how much it costs. the one or two who say it is believe it to cost either 80rmb per hour or 80 rmb for 2 hours. certainly 80 rmb an hour seems expensive and i opted to use the lap-top via a mobile phone package link up (local provider). this issue is though a current hotel issue and not just limited to this hotel, though unknowledgeable staff is.

Well furnished, big rooms, brand new property purpose built for hotel, good broadband, wide range of satellite channels, lively (for China) bar, cheap room rate. Centre of town, a few local restaurants round about. Even could be described as having a buzz!
