each year the parking garage attached to the hotel undergoes major repair, which includes hours of jackhammering for days on end. it is audible on the upper floors! rooms ending in "07" are behind the elevator bank and you can hear the mechanical rumbling and "pings" when the elevator gets to your floor. if you are a light sleeper or have good hearing, this goes on all night. rooms well appointed, but the whole place felt claustrophobic due to a shortage of windows throughout the building and room window view of an office building. would not stay here again, or in that congested neighborhood again. wifi is not free, but the business center has 2 computers available with internet access.

Decent... and getting better

The service is quite attentive and the newly renovated rooms are very nice, with flatscreen TVs, new carpets, bedspreads, wall coverings, and refurbished bathrooms. The executive lounge is adequate, though small and more of a place to pick-up a muffin for breakfast or to grab a quick drink before going out for the evening. Not a place to hang-out and relax.
Overall, a decent 3-4 star choice in downtown Minneapolis, though there are other hotels in a similar price range (i.e. Radisson) that offer a superior product.

The staff at this hotel needs some serious lessons in manners and etiquette. Will never stay here again.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza at the end of January for two nights. It was the second time that I had stayed at the hotel. This hotel is centrally located downtown, conveniently connected to the network of walkways that encompass the entire downtown area. This means one can walk between all the downtown buildings, shops, restaurants, etc. without going outdoors.
The 17-story hotel is a good choice for business or convention, with decent rooms at reasonable prices. There is a restaurant on the 7th floor for breakfast or lunch. There is also a lounge on the ground floor (which has a relatively small footprint). In spite of a few of the other reviews, I have found staff at this hotel to be pretty friendly and ready to help.
The standard room is pretty small, though there is a nice desk for working, and wireless internet service throughout the hotel. One bit of advice is that it pays to get an extra blanket so that one does not have to run the heater all night. I hate waking up in hotels at 2:30 AM all dried out from over-heating that becomes necessary when one goes to bed with one thin blanket or comforter.
All in all, I think this hotel is pretty solid and I intend to stay there again.
