I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 2 nights during a business trip. I found it to be a very comfortable hotel, in a great location. On arrival I was offered the opportunity to join the Priority Club by reception staff, and I think as a result was upgraded to a better room.
My room on level 5 was a reasonable size and had 2 double beds with a fantastic view over the river. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The room had a TV with some foxtel channels, a small fridge, a desk with cable internet access, cupboard, minibar - the usual hotel amenities. It was quiet and clean. I think the view was what really made the room though, so it might be worth getting a room with a view if it is not too expensive.
The location was great as it is attached to the Exhibition Centre building, opposite the casino, and next to the river with a range of restaurants and cafes nearby. It is a walk or a tram ride to anywhere in the CBD you want to go.
The staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. I would definitely stay there again.

This is the 3rd time I stayed at Crowne Plaza since it was built but until now I was unmotivated to write a review. The reason is that it is bland and forgettable. Many others have commented on the convenient location to the exhibition centre, near the river, transport, a nice walk to the CBD etc.. all true.. but I find the whole Crowne Entertainment (Gambling) idea repulsive, so proximity to the Casino is to me a big negative on aesthetic and safety grounds. The lobby is poorly designed, after check it, guests climb up the escalators with their baggage, and the breakfast/grill is not directly accessible from the guest rooms either, victim of the same poor design. The rooms are conformable but average. The TV set in my room did not work (the tube was blown), the buffet breakfast is top-dollar but on the lower end of what is acceptable to a 4 start hotel. All in all, this is a bland out, if it wasn't for the TV not working I wouldn't have bothered to comment. There are much better places to stay in Melbourne.

I stayed here with my husband and two children and we thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The views over the Yarra River and the Crown Casino Complex were just lovely, especially the jet flames from the Casino which go off every hour from 6 pm. The concierge staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean and the cleaners were also very friendly. This hotel's location is wonderful because it so close to all the tram stops and everything that the city has to offer. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and I would certainly come back here. Keep up the great standard!

if you are attending a conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre, then you will find this hotel very convenient as it is connnected to the Centre.
If you are not attending a conference, you can do better so stay elsewhere. The rooms are very average, and the bathrooms are small. The location is quite good , on the river, but overall this hotel doesnt have much going for it.

Upon entry, lobby was good. Found the reception staff a bit rude. They were giggling about some joke when I checked in. I had to carry my own luggage up to my room. When I asked for help at reception, I was pointed to the concierge desk, which was quite a walk away, and noone was at the desk.
On the way to my room, lobby and lift areas were classy enough, bar and piano area on the way.
I was on the 8th floor, room was a decent size, not worth 425 bucks a night though. Slack view of the city, even though the window was big. I could see the pool, which was better than nothing!
The bathroom was impressive, spacious and clean. Real old TV, real small fridge and not much of a bar area for drinks and snacks. Considering this was a delux suite room, you would expect more!
Overall, a not bad place but we think it's worth around 180 bucks a night. So, dont pay more!
