Spent one night (Sunday) at this Crowne Plaza. Got a decent deal thru Priceline......don't pay full Crowne Plaza price for this hotel.....I'm glad I didn't. First, it's a noisy place. Other guests were constantly slamming their doors shut.....even at 0345 hrs. Amazing. Slamming doors after slamming doors. Also, the train goes thru downtown at midnight and at 0330........blowing it's horn. Needless to say it was a tall order to get some sleep. Parking is not the greatest either.....although it is free. Long walk from the parking garage to your room. Front desk service was superb. No problems there. In summary, I wouldn't pay full price for this hotel.

Deal through Hotwire - don't pay full price

I was looking forward to this stay!....
Purchased through hotwire (59 +tax/fees= 70.11) since the identity was not a mystery if you compare and contrast via the booking websites. Ended up being cheaper than the other roach-motels in town - including the Cherry Tree just up the street which I stayed at the night before (Nasty). There are nicer hotels of less "star value" (Crowne Plaza rated a 3 star) that are a better value if you can get them for less money. They include, Hampton Inn, C'monn Inn, La Quinta, Hilton Garden Inn..etc. However, they were more money for my trip. The Crowne is close to both St. Vincents and Billings Clinic hospitals just of 27th. I did not use the airport shuttle. But, when I checked in, it was dropping off an airline crew.
Not a bad deal, but I think one could do better. Price on official website wa $114+tax when I booked.
Room was small with a strange floor plan. No bad smells. Clothes closet was covered by a strange "shower curtain". Bathroom sink had not been drained by housekeeping and there was a luggage tag on the carpet that did not belong to me. Room 411 had a great "ear" for the passing train and no view. The room is just down the hall from the exercise rooms (both have two flat screen plasma TV's). Bathroom was very small but clean. Slept well except for the train. Flat screen 27" TV (no DVD available even with request....RedBox DVD rental just down the street at Alberstons grocery on 27th). Clock radio had a CD for play of the strange "sleep CD" promoting the hotel chain.
Lobby is torn apart as of 3/31/08. The Billings ecomony is "booming" compared to the rest of the country so service should not be expected...although the "tip" jar is VERY prominent at the Starbucks in the lobby. I've never seen a tip jar this big and prominent...and so empty.
Jake's across the street is a good place for steak, but overpriced if you are paying with your own dime. I didn not eat at the hotel.

You have to suffer renovations

This hotel is finishing major renovations. I saw a woman in the hall who had been booked into a room that was torn apart and was waiting for a rebooking, I had that happen last year. You won't hear construction in the room areas,
The lounge and restaurant have been temporarily relocated to the 23rd floor and no longer have an ambience.
Security may be a concern. I stepped out for a smoke and left my room key behind. I was given a new key with no ID, just a room number. The desk person had never seen me before and I offered to give my booking info but she never asked.
Housekeeping remains questionable. In the past six months I have been put into a room with a very, very uncleaned toilet, had housekeeping show up at 5:30 p.m. (bad for a business traveler planning a meeting in the room), had a dirty glass rinsed and placed back and this time there was a sleep packet (part of the Priority Club package) hanging off the back of the bedside stand. The housekeeping staff do a 80% job.
I've stayed at this hotel for 25 years and still like it. The renovated rooms are great, with good beds, wonderful bathrooms and great TVs. Wireless is good throughout.
They no longer allow pets.

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night on our way through town. The hotel is being renovated, but other than some signs in the elevator, we couldn't really tell. Our room was very spacious with a king bed and pull-out couch. A large tv was nice, even though we don't really watch. The bathroom was nice, with a built-in hairdryer and granite sink/vanity. Basically, the room was nice, much more sophisticated than we expected for Billings (knowing almost nothing about it, admittedly), and most importantly the hotel was quiet, centrally located in downtown Billings, across the street from a great restaurant (whose name I forget - it is one word, has a bar, serves up tapas and nice meat-centered entrees), and parking was right outside the door.

Was a little nervous to stay here after reading some of the reviews. However, this hotel was amazing!! It is still under a little bit of renovation in the main lobby area - but nothing that would interfere with your stay.
Our room was very clean and very nice. The bathrooms were amazing. I was not nervous to use the comforter because you knew it had been cleaned as it was pure white in color.
The Starbucks was a HUGE plus - as was the bar on the 20th floor - with an amazing view!
We make several trips to Billings each year - and this will definately be our new place to stay!!
